After a good bit of deliberation, we’ve decided to tweak our feedback and editorial services, making them easier for us to manage and more useful and cost-effective for our community. What we offer in terms of feedback for unsuccessful submissions isn’t going to change, but if you want feedback on something not submitted to us, how that happens that will be changing.
From now on, we’ll only be offering a feedback service for works not submitted to us to our Patrons. Patrons will be able to request feedback on one piece a month (pieces must fall within our standard submission criteria: that’s between 250 and 3500 words for prose/non-fiction, and less than 50 lines for poetry) as a thank you for supporting us.
We feel that this offers both the best value-for-money service for our customers and provides us with a sustainable base to build from, knowing we have consistent funds coming in.
For those interested in taking up the service (or those who just wish to support us), we offer sponsorships for just £1 a month. This small amount makes a huge difference at our end, and so we always say that if people like what we can do and if they’re able to afford to support us, please consider it. There’s no shame in not supporting us (and certainly no shame in being unable to), but please consider it.
In the meantime, keep an eye out for more announcements on our new feedback service, including any updated timelines, a potential increase in the amount of feedback provided, and a few comments on what others have said about our service.
Bandit Fiction is an entirely not-for-profit organisation ran by passionate volunteers. We do our best to keep costs low, but we rely on the support of our readers and followers to be able to do what we do. The best way to support us is by purchasing one of our back issues. All issues are ‘pay what you want’, and all money goes directly towards paying operational costs.
